SIZE
The shoulder-height is 20 - 25cm (7 1/2 - 9 1/2in), although the dogs may be slightly taller. The weight is 2.5 - kg (5 1/2 - 6 1/21b).

COAT
The silken coat consists of soft, long hair which should not be curly. The accepted colors are black with white or red with white. The red with white combination is permitted to vary from lemon to dark red.
The most usual coloring is black with white. There are also three-color dogs and sable and white but these are not recognized in every country.

CARE REQUIRED
The beautiful coat fortunately does not easily tangle so that grooming twice per week with a brush and comb is sufficient. To keep the beautiful white of the coat, it will be necessary to
wash them from time to time. Keep the ear passages clean and clean the facial creases with acid-free petroleum jelly to prevent dark staining.

CHARACTER
These engaging dogs are affectionate, playful, but also calm, straightforward and cheerful. They can have minds of their own and they like to be the center of attention. They do not bark often. They like to be close to their handler.

TRAINING
Provided you make allowances for their obstinate streak, there should be few problems in their training. The breed is usually quickly house-trained.

SOCIAL BEHAVIOR
These are not difficult dogs and they usually get on extremely well with children, cats, and other dogs. It is surely obvious that a dog of this size cannot cope with rough handling by larger dogs or children. They will not readily bite.

EXERCISE
Running, romping, and playing are the activities this breed enjoys. Some people insist they can also climb like a cat.. They will be perfectly happy in a flat and they can be taught to use a cat litter tray. In such cases make sure they do get sufficient exercise and fresh air.
